Take Action

According to the US Department of Health and human services,“For young people who already have mental health disorders, early intervention and treatment can help lessen the impact on their lives”.

This is why we must work hard to make sure that ourselves and the people around us are doing alright. Follow these steps to check in with yourself or reach out to someone who may be struggling with their mental health.

Check in with Yourself

  • Acknowledge your emotions
how are you feeling today? why?
  • Rate how you feel on a scale of 1 (very bad) to 10 (very good)
  • Ask yourself what you can do in the future to improve this rating.
  • Ask yourself how other people can help you improve this rating.
  • Understand that maybe you can’t fix it yourself, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
  • Love Yourself

Check in with Someone Else

  • Reach out to your friends just to check in.
  • Be patient with people who are not ready to talk.
  • Don’t joke about others' mental state and struggles.
  • Encourage others who you see struggling to ask for help.
  • Make your friend group a safe place to talk about mental health without judgement.
